¡Bienvenidos a Español!

SJA students take a World Language class as part of the curriculum.  Students in grades 3 - 5 meet once a week for Spanish.  Students will learn how to greet and introduce each other, how to use polite expressions and useful phrases, how to use formal and informal speech, to describe places in the community, different professions, and families.  Students also learn about the history and geography of Puerto Rico and Cuba as well as the history of Mexico and the Aztecs.  Grade 5 learns about the history and geography of Spain as well as how to say something hurts and use vocabulary related to body parts and food.

Third Grade

We meet once a week on Fridays

Students are required to have a Spanish folder and a composition book along with pens and pencils when they come to class each week. We will continue to learn basic vocabulary and some grammar elements. We will explore various customs and traditions of the hispanic world. 



 

Fifth Grade

We meet once a week on Tuesdays

Students are required to have a Spanish folder, notebook and plenty of pens and pencils when they come to class. We will begin preparing for Junior High Spanish.  Students will focus on vocabulary and grammar to help prepare them for Spanish I.  We will also learn about various customs and traditions of the Hispanic world.
